When hobbies evolve

It’s interesting how hobbies just suddenly evolve with children. From blocks to clay, from watching their favorite shows to learning instruments, all in a short span of time. It is a welcome kind of “interesting” though since for a parent, knowing what your child can do and will do is important to be able to support and develop the talent.

From asking other parents, learning to play an instrument seems to be a normal “phase” for any child. My child has expressed interest in the piano, the drums and now the guitar. It wouldn’t surprise me if she suddenly blurts out that she wants one of those martin guitars from musicians friend. I’m sure it may take a bit longer before we can indulge on that but knowing that she’s working towards something she wants is success enough for any parent.

Instrument Mania

One thing I am glad about the Music subject in my little girl’s school is that they are encouraged to take on any instrument they are interested in. Apart from learning at least 1 instrument a year as part of their curriculum, they also offer extra classes for other instruments.

What I’ve seen so far that is included in their classes is the Yukelele. I love that the school is providing the instrument to the children to learn with, aside from asking the parents to provide it. I hope that when my little girl is in the higher grade though, they also teach her how to use the best alto sax I’ve seen online. My little one and I absolutely love sax tones and we’re hoping that it becomes part of their lessons too.

Car repair

We have wanted to have our Toyota Corona fixed for the longest time but we end up always postponing it. Be it to prioritize other things, or just not the right time, we always find a reason to delay it.

Just this once, we’ve decided to make the repairs made at the “casa” or at the car factory itself, rather than in one of the shops along the street. We think that because the model is pretty old, and because it’s such a huge part of our lives, we owe it to be handled by the best, and only original parts should be used for replacement.

After canvassing toyota factory parts, we were on track with our budget. Hopefully we can push through with the repair this summer months, especially since we have decided to have it re-painted.
