Premature ejaculation is a frustrating problem for many men. The only medication approved for treatment of premature ejaculation in the UK is Priligy. In the medical trials for this drug which is also known as dapoxetine, men who suffered from premature ejaculation were able to last up to three times longer. The drug affects serotonin levels at the brain’s pleasure center and is produced by Janssen-Cilag. The manufacturer recommends that a single tablet be taken 1-3 hours before a sexual encounter to achieve maximum results.

Janssen – Cilag says the drug has been well tolerated by thousands of men in medical trials. Possible side effects include dizziness, headache or nausea experienced by about 10% of the men who have taken the drug. Less common side effects include mood changes, irregular heart beat and loss of sex drive. As with any drug, it is important to consult with a physician before taking it.

Premature ejaculation is a a subject that many men are afraid to bring up with their physicians because they feel embarrassed but it should be looked at like any other medical condition. It is a physical problem that can be controlled with medication. It is a problem that is more common than you may think. Occasional instances of premature ejaculation are not uncommon but when it occurs more than half of the time in sexual relations, that can signal a serious problem which needs attention.
