Have you ever experienced filing for Bankrupcty? Or have you ever been involved with a company who filed for Bankrupcty? My husband has, and it wasn’t a sight to see.
A couple of years back my husband had to close a company because the company he worked for filed for Chapter 13. It was one of the saddest things that we went through. I still remember that time he came home, exactly a month before the company was scheduled to close. He came home from their Independence Party, something that should have been fun, but what I saw in his eyes as he opened the door was something different. I knew it when I hugged him, and he cried for some time. When he finally looked up, he said he’s out of a job.
I was pregnant then but I had no job because my doctor advised me to stay home. We just went through a miscarriage the previous year so I gave up everything to see the pregnancy through. The fear of how we will survive hovered over me like a shadow. How could all this happen to us, and with a baby coming soon?
One of the roles of being a wife is to be strong for her husband and that’s what I did. I tried to read about California Bankruptcy to familiarize myself with the process so I can point my husband in the right direction. We tried to find every available lawyer friend but they all gave bits and pieces about how to go about it. Thinking about it now, it would have been great if we were provided the services of lawyers who specialize in Northern California Bankruptcy. If we were told exactly what to do, things would have gone smoothly for us and not aggravated the emotional pain we were going through.
My husband was finally able to close everything down after 2 months. Yes, it took us that long because we had to ask a lot of people for help and advice. I’m thankful for everyone who helped us during that dark cloud of out lives but every cloud has a silver lining and ours was the birth of our daughter.
Bankrupcty and Me, we don’t go well together but we managed to work together for my family’s sake. I think I handled it pretty well, don’t you?
