Working from home is an advantage for some, like my friends who gave up their careers to stay at home to tend to their families. After a couple of years and their babies turn into independent toddlers, some of those friends tried to find online jobs to somehow help with finance as well as take advantage of their spare time.

I have been told that to work from home, the internet – it’s speed and stability, is of high importance. One can’t have intermittent service especially when having conference calls with employers. Some of my friends have regular video conference sessions but most of them subscribe to an audio conferencing service because it’s more effective than conferencing with video due to unstable internet connection in our country.

Maybe soon, I too can try out some work from home jobs even if it’s just part-time. In this day where all the prices keep increasing, any financial help for any source is welcome.

A couple of weeks ago, just before his 18th birthday, my brother had a little accident. As he was driving home in his motorcycle, he didn’t seem to notice a path of sand on the road and he skidded and was thrown to the gutter.

Thankfully, he heeded my mother’s advice on how important riding helmets are and that he was wearing one that day. His motorcycle suffered most of the damage but he did have a couple of bruises on his arms and legs. His helmet definitely saved his head from hitting the gutter. A few days of body pains and he was good to ride again.

Honestly, my family has been averse to the idea of owning, much more using a motorcycle. From a long line of family history, each member from my grandfather to uncles have been involved in mishaps one way or another.

Unfortunately, in this day and age where almost everyone owns a car and traffic is just absurd, using a motorcycle seems to be the best option for some. Take for instance my brother. If he were to commute, he’d have to spend 5 to 6 times what he does on a week’s worth of gas, and take 2 hours longer to and from his school. With a motorcycle, he can be in his school in 15 minutes using the back route. Interesting, right?

But since he is fairly new to driving and he is not familiar with a lot of areas, I’m hoping that one of these days he can save up for a zumo 665. I’m sure a GPS will definitely help him out especially since it’s just his first year driving on his own.

I now know the perfect gift for girls and boys from ages 3-10. Matchbox or Toy cars!

All along I thought it would only be perfect for boys until recently when 2 girls in my family (aged 3 and 4) wanted the same gift for Christmas as their 8-year old (boy) cousin. I guess buying amt models would be on my list for years to come. I really don’t mind though, I think it’s also good that girls get to play with cars too. But the 3 year old has a specific request. She wants me to find a pink and purple striped model car. Now that would be the challenge!

I haven’t really thought of what I’d like for the year to come. I know it’s late and I should have my resolutions and goals listed but I guess cramming always works for me, even if they are just thoughts and ideas.

But if there’s one thing that’s bugging me, maybe it’s time to finally meet some people from the opposite gender… finally. I’ll probably check out some free online dating services since they’ve become quite popular and safe nowadays because of their abundance. Finding new “friends” online feels a bit safer for me than being set up on a blind date because at least you don’t expose yourself right off the bat.

Have you compiled your own resolutions and goals for 2012?
