The coming months will be a little challenging for me. There a are a couple of family members who will be celebrating their birthdays in the next 2 months. Since most of them are adults, finding the perfect birthday gift is not an easy feat.

I’ve always considered giving them a gift basket because I know they will appreciate it since they can use it. I mean, what can you give people who have almost everything they need, right? Gift baskets are perfect for these occasions since it’s not a common gift and there is an assortment of items in the basket itself.

Have you ever given gift baskets to your loved ones as gifts? Which do you recommend, those that come with a complete set of ingredients for them to cook, or those that are filled with chocolates, cheeses and wine?

Being treated at a hospital is a luxury nowadays. Those with medical insurance or health cards are lucky that they don’t really feel how expensive treatments can be but are they treated the same way as those paying in cash?

Since I stopped working for a company and pursued doing jobs online, one of the benefits I definitely missed was my medical insurance. I tend to look out for my health more now and not just have myself checked at the spur of the moment since I shoulder all the expenses.

But one thing I noticed was there is a difference on how patients are treated depending on their method of payment. Those that use health cards usually wait a while, well, depending on the urgency, but I’ve noticed that those that pay in cash get more attention right away. Another thing is that those with cards are usually sent to different labs for tests but those who pay in cash sometimes just stay in one area/room and then medical computer carts are just brought to them.

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me or maybe it was just a coincidence that I notice those on several occasions. I just hope that hospital customer service be improved whether a patient is paying through a health card or by cash. After all, they’re both still paying customers, right?

I’m sure they already got rewards from their parents but being the only 2 out of 4 kids in school (other 2 are still too young), I would love to be able to get them a toy or two as well.

I was thinking of getting them a yomega since they both love playing with a yoyo. I know it will be the perfect toy for them this summer and that it will be the perfect keepsake since their family may be moving to another province before the next school year starts.

When Is The Right Time To Change Wooden Doors?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve lived in houses with full wooden doors. I guess most houses have wooden doors because wood is a natural resource in our country.

The problem with wooden doors is its natural wear and tear. Wood normally expands during the cold and rainy weather because it absorbs the moisture, then shrinks back (when the moist dries out from the heat) during the summer. Our door not only absorbed moisture during the weather including the yearly typhoon season, but also the wrath of a growing up Chocolate Labrador.

I actually thought of changing our worn out door right before Christmas so that it would look pretty with Christmas leis and our wreath, but because it was sorely expanded I was advised to wait until summer. Because it’s now officially summer, it is the perfect time to replace our wooden doors. I can’t wait to look around for a new one, preferably with an intricate design just like we had at my parents’ house. Better update my tools and shims too just in case they’re needed.

How about you? Do you have wooden doors in your house too? Have you ever had them changed? Any tips for a first-timer?

Maybe it’s because most of my friends are moms in their late 20s and early 30s that most of them have been expressing concerns about their weight. I don’t know if it’s because they miss their pre-pregnancy figures or maybe it’s the time in our lives that we tend to really look at ourselves and wonder if we’re doing things right?

I must admit, I am far from being the healthiest person in the whole wide world. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever belonged to the “normal” weight category since I was 9 or 10 years old. Apparently, there’s a new fad in losing weight nowadays. I have yet to really learn from it but from the pictures I’ve seen, the results are truly amazing. I was just told by a friend that I would really need a balance scale for my food intake since everything is strictly measured.

Now this I have to think about. Should I change my being weight conscious to being food conscious? Is this the right time for me to start anew and challenge myself? I know I owe it to myself to be healthy but I need to make sure that I’m truly ready and will accept every bit of consequence from this.

I’ll keep you updated. I would love to know more about this new diet so hopefully I can do another post to let you know what it is all about.
