Ever since I can remember, I’ve lived in houses with full wooden doors. I guess most houses have wooden doors because wood is a natural resource in our country.
The problem with wooden doors is its natural wear and tear. Wood normally expands during the cold and rainy weather because it absorbs the moisture, then shrinks back (when the moist dries out from the heat) during the summer. Our door not only absorbed moisture during the weather including the yearly typhoon season, but also the wrath of a growing up Chocolate Labrador.
I actually thought of changing our worn out door right before Christmas so that it would look pretty with Christmas leis and our wreath, but because it was sorely expanded I was advised to wait until summer. Because it’s now officially summer, it is the perfect time to replace our wooden doors. I can’t wait to look around for a new one, preferably with an intricate design just like we had at my parents’ house. Better update my tools and shims too just in case they’re needed.
How about you? Do you have wooden doors in your house too? Have you ever had them changed? Any tips for a first-timer?
